"As we live our lives we use things up. Sustainability is about whether the things we use up can be replenished. The Earth, Sun and Moon are all we have and the question of whether we live sustainably is real. As human beings we can also think in terms of our lives and whether we are living in a way that is wearing us down or allowing us to prosper.
The Dr.Hauschka products are produced in a sustainable way, in the environmental sense and in the human sense. Environmentally, we are constantly driving our ingredient production towards biodynamic methods. These methods embody the principles of sustainability, operating the farm as a self sustaining unit, sustainable for the environment and the human being.
Dr.Hauschka requires thousands of acres of pink Damask Roses to be grown every year in order to produce the Rose essential oil needed in the products. Our oil comes from regions that grow good Roses, like Afghanistan, Turkey and Iran, and the farmers that grow our Roses have been taught biodynamic techniques. Our purchasing pattern is fair, consistent and long term.
We have a name for the transformation brought about by consumers using Dr.Hauschka products, we call it the Pink Revolution: Pink because of the Roses, and a revolution, because we are turning normal economics and agribusiness on its head. When you use Dr.Hauschka products you are being part of the solution, and a tiny wave of positive change will ripple its way out to the people and places around the world that we will never meet or visit, but which are as real and important as we are."
